Memorial Day [May. 31st, 2005|07:02 am]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
[mood |thankfulthankful]

I had a chance to ask my Dad today a little bit about his years in the Air Force. Here's what he told me. He enlisted on July 16, 1951 and was honorably discharged on July 15, 1955. He served his Basic Training at Samson Air Force Base in Geneva, New York. He was then sent to 67th Fighter Bomber Squadron FBS at the K-46 Air Force Base in Korea (@ 10 miles from the 38th Parallel) during The Korean War. He severed there from 1/1952 until 1/1953. He loaded airplanes with armaments and also changed the movie films in the air planes. After his tour in Korea he served out the remainder of his time at the Strategic Air Command Base at Lake Charles, Louisiana.

I thank God for my Dad and other brave American Men and Women who serve in the United States Military.

Prayer for Missionary in Indonesia [May. 29th, 2005|08:43 am]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
It's 8:30ish AM on Sunday morning and I received an intense feeling that I should stop what I'm doing and pray for a Missionary from my church who is in Indonesia right now. Father God, i pray for her right now. Whatever she is doing, wherever she is, please send your Holy Angels to protect her and the others she is with. Thwart whatever designs the enemy has to hurt her and the mission of sharing Jesus with the lost people of Indonesia. Strengthen her. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Today is a month without my "Best Friend" [May. 27th, 2005|10:19 am]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
It's not an accident that DOG is known as "Man's Best Friend". My best friend Ashley has been gone for month today. I can finally think about her without breaking down. She was a 14 1/2 year old Black Lab mix. I never knew how much I loved her until she was gone. She taught me more about "Unconditional Love" than any other living thing. She was like Jesus with "fur on". I've learned alot about myself over the last month, mostly realizing what God had given me when he gave me Ashley. I miss you Ash.

Love,
Dad

Pileated Woodpecker [May. 26th, 2005|11:25 pm]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
We have a Pileated Woodpecker nesting on our property. Tonight we had a chance to watch him up close feast on the bugs in the rotting tree stump out front. I'm sure I'll have more to write about him soon.

Asking for help [May. 26th, 2005|04:17 pm]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
Why do we wait so long to ask for help? Today my coworker was struggling for hours trying to get a certain program to do a certain thing. he tried this, he tried that, over and over, somehow expecting a different result. Finally I intervened and called tech support for the software (which we pay extra for) and in a few minutes we had the answer.

Lesson learned? Don't wait so long to ask for help.

The Constitution of the United States [May. 26th, 2005|12:37 pm]

[mood |impressedimpressed]

Have you ever read The Constitution of the United States? I haven't in a long time. I started reading it online yesterday at http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/
I am so stuck at how simplistic and yet God inspired it seems to be. It's not full of the legal mumbo-jumbo that it would if it were written today. I'm enjoying it, I hope you will too!

It's been awhile... [May. 26th, 2005|11:13 am]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
[mood |rejuvenatedrejuvenated]

I was thinking today on the way into work that I feel asleep at the wheel. What I mean is that I feel like life has been passing by without too much notice from me, I want to stop that. I want to be alive, I want to notice what's going on. I want to arrive at work and remember the drive. I want to live.

The Simple Blessing of "Today" [Aug. 14th, 2004|10:24 pm]
"Ecce Homo, Behold the Man" John 19:5
".those who have reason to be thankful should continually sing praises to
the Lord." James 5:13 (NLT)

I had not seen my parents for a couple of weeks. Earlier in the day my
mother told me on the phone that she would be preparing one of my favorite
meals. The plan was, I would go directly to their home after work and when
I arrived dinner would be waiting for me on the table. Having been a
routine day at work I was able to drive off exactly on time. I was very
hungry and anxious to get to my parents house. I was zipping down the
highway when I noticed something flash out of the corner of my eye, what
happened next is only a blur in my memory. I was later told that a car in
the oncoming lane had slammed into the rear of another car waiting to make a
turn shoving that car directly into my path. The next thing I realized I
was in an ambulance on my way to the hospital. Several hours later, after
completing a series of medical tests I was finally released from the
hospital, my body was sore but otherwise I would be OK. It was well past
dinnertime when my father met me at the Emergency Room door and because I
had missed dinner I was famished. He said "Your dinner is still waiting for
you if you want it". Did I ever! When I gave thanks at that meal it was
the truest blessing I ever prayed. "Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Lord
Jesus for allowing me to walk away from that horrific accident! Thank you
for this day and the one tomorrow! May I never take for granite the simple
blessing of today! In Jesus name Amen!"
